Typically a security integrator will provide a one-year warranty on parts and labor for an installation project.
For the most part, it is an industry standard for the labor portion of the project to carry a one-year warranty.
However, many of the components of your electronic security system carry multiple year warranties from the manufacturer.
Even though in year two you will need to pay for the integrator's labor, quite often the factory repair is covered under
a multi-year warranty.
Suggestion:
When you ask for a quote on a project, request that the integrator supply you with the individual warranties for each
component in the system. This could provide a significant savings after year one. Although different manufacturers vary,
here are some examples:
Access Cards
HID 1326 ProxCards - Lifetime Warranty
HID 1386 ISOProx Cards - Lifetime Warranty
Access Card Readers
HID 5455 ProProxII Readers - Lifetime Warranty
HID 5935 ThinLine Readers - Lifetime Warranty
Sensormatic Products
Mulitplexers - 5 Year Warranty
Intellex Video Recorder - 1 Year Warranty
Video Monitors - 1 Year Warranty
Pelco Products
Spectra Dome Cameras - 2 Year Warranty
Camclosures 300 Cameras - 2 Year Warranty
Pelco Genex Multiplexers - 3 Year Warranty
Pelco CC3500 Cameras - 5 Year Warranty
You may find yourself choosing a certain product because of the extended warranty. Do your homework
up front and ask for the warranty information. You will be glad you did!
